Newfound Springtime Treat! Ciao Bella Gelato

Home» Blog » Newfound Springtime Treat! Ciao Bella Gelato

I really think I’ve found my ultimate favorite dessert!  It was by happenstance on a randomly warm Wednesday afternoon in March.  I craved something sweet, refreshing, light and yet decadent.   I had tons of work to do so asked my friend who was heading out to grab some “ice-cream like” treat.

Being the idealist that I am I told her what I couldn’t do.   No Hagen-Daaz, no Breyers, no Turkey Hill…Edy’s could’ve worked but still was not exactly what my buds were begging for!  I knew I wanted something…zesty!   She finally came back,  looking a little defeated but still bearing gifts.  I carefully opened the bag and saw the colorful but simple pint of…Gelato???   Ok…we we’re trying something new here.  I’ve never purchased gelato by the pint from a supermarket.   I had expected icecream, sorbet or even frozen fruit bars, but gelato??  Hey, it didn’t matter, I finally had the cold sweet treat I was craving!  I opened it and took a spoonful.  Hmmm, good.  Then I took another…Wow, this is pretty delish.  Then I took my third…and suddenly a light bulb went off.  Well it was a little more than a light bulb, it was like…a tidal wave of joy and sunlight!  Each bite had chunks of sweet and tart strawberries.  It was creamy but not dense but most importantly…it tasted of pure fruit.  Being ever the recipe stealer…I looked at the ingredients list and to my delight (!!) strawberries were the first ingredient!  No ice cream has FRUIT as the first ingredient.  I was beyond content.  Finally, I discovered the true joys of gelato- Flavor not mulled by tons of cream, egg and sugar…just pure fruit flavor with a touch of cream.

Since that blessed Wednesday afternoon…I’ve consistenly had some Ciao Bella frozen treat in my freezer.  I believe if you know what’s best why settle for less?   This is the same thinking behind the cuisine here at Dining With Grace, we believe in using the best ingredients, enhancing true flavors, and standing for high quality in cuisine and service.  I love what you’re doing Ciao Bella, keep it up!

Dining With Grace especially recommends the Strawberry Gelato and the Mango Sorbet!!  Pure fruit flavor!

Yesterday I had the honor of meeting Mayor DeBlasi Yesterday I had the honor of meeting Mayor DeBlasio and being a guest on his media availability along with the Commissioner of Small Business Services. I was asked to share my entrepreneurship story and how it’s important to be mentored and supported through the many challenges of building a business. I for one know how it can be a tiresome and lonely journey when building a business and seeking real guidance. COVID has not made it any easier but many of us had to pivot.

I am proud of the initiatives NYC is taking to truly support and mentor minority business. My hope is that our success stories will be the norm and that we will build wealth-generating , legacy-building , community-changing small businesses.
🤲🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾 (Amen!)

Remember, keep going! Be flexible! Stay agile! Stay encouraged. 2021 Motto: Stay greasy!
You CAN make it through a difficult situation.
💚💚💚💚

Also, please stay tuned for more news about Dining With Grace services!! We still represent great food and Pan-African cuisine. However, my way of staying greasy during a critical time was to go to my love and skill for baking! I’m glad I did!! I love the products and @gracescarrotcake (please follow!) will always be alongside my work as Chef of Dining With Grace. I specialize in GOOD FOOD EXPERIENCES. (Period)

Happy New Year, good folks. 🎊🥂🎊🥂 Tha Happy New Year, good folks.
🎊🥂🎊🥂

Thank God we made it through!

It’s such an honor to be here, to be friended, supported and/or followed by you. Thank you for being present. Thank you for supporting not just my business but my humanity. This gift of life is a blessed journey if you see it as such.
Please know that when you support my work, you are not just ordering food/catering, wanting a cake, taking a trip, etc, but you are supporting a dream that could have been stripped away by blows of life but had it not been for God who gives me peace and who I know is on my side, I’m still going and it *always* gets better. 💥💥💥🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Thank you for your kind thoughts, 💵, and helping me build business and courage over the years. Know that I’m always in building mode.
The best is yet to come. I also believe our best is now.

Cheers to 2021!

Thankful for the opportunity to share this gift. Thankful for the opportunity to share this gift. To some it may just be cake but when given to those who are unexpecting and in need of a touch of goodwill (and a delicious thing) it can significantly touch their heart.

Today, we were able to gift 180 of @gracescarrotcake mini carrot cakes to our local shelter so each family can have their own dessert gift. It felt like mission impossible but every single cake had love and a prayer on it.

May there be something sweet and special found in the memories of 2020.

Thank you to all my donors and @derin30 who helped to pull this project together! Xoxo

When you’re craving your favorite appetizer, fri When you’re craving your favorite appetizer, fried calamari, so you make some fried calamari.

Calamari is one of those things I have mixed feelings about when ordering from restaurants because you just never know if they will give you some frozen breaded “calamari rings”. I hate those and actually don’t consider that true calamari. I need to see tentacles 🤦🏾‍♀️

I battered this with seasonings, @bobsredmill potato starch and chickpea flour. A nice light gluten-free crispy coating, fried until golden. I made the spicy yogurt dip with a base of 2% @fage Yogurt, smoked paprika, Scotch bonnet hot sauce, onion and garlic powders, salt and pepper. Baked sweet potato on the side. Amazingly delicious.

I’m remembering Martinique tonight because I still have some Clement Select Barrel Rum from my 2016 trip. This rum has gone into a version of my 2020 carrot cake and has changed my life for the better. It will change yours too. #connections

Good night. I can’t wait to travel again. Much more to explore.
